Julian Semiao French, b. 1996

Biography
Born in Lyon in 1996, Julian Semiao holds a bachelor's degree in visual arts from Saint-Etienne and a master's degree in contemporary painting from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne. He lives in Paris and works in Ivry-sur-Seine. In 2020 — the year he was a finalist for the Luxembourg Art Prize — his work took the formal direction we know today. It is a painting that gives primacy to drawing and line, inspired by comics and that questions the codes of Figuration Narrative. In his works, Julian Semiao tells his story, between scenes of parties, dances and concerts and moments of intimacy, as many metaphorical pretexts for another narrative and the expression of a commitment.
The Chenus Longhi Gallery is pleased to represent Julian Semiao since 2023 and to put on his first solo exhibition in May 2023.
