Rafael Gerlach

Born in 1977, Rafael Gerlach (SatOne) has been one of the most active European graffiti artists since the 1990s and his studio work has been shown since 2002, notably alongside that of Banksy or Loomit in the historic Urban Discipline exhibition in Hamburg. Today, he creates about ten large painted walls per year throughout the world and is one of the most important players in the muralist scene. It is no longer a matter of dispute that his work is an enormous source of influence for artists of his generation and beyond. With a very technical approach, Rafael Gerlach is in a permanent exploration of forms while taking into account our senses and our perception of reality in an almost impressionistic way. The free interpretation of the spectator leads him to explore his own imagination and his emotions in front of the work, playing the balance between abstraction and reality.
