BARTEK SWIATECKI Polish, b. 1981

Biography

Bartek Świątecki lives and works in Olsztyn, Poland. A 2006 graduate of the University of the Arts in Torun, he has been teaching painting and drawing at the Olsztyn Art School since 2008, becoming a certified teacher ten years later and receiving an award from the Ministry. Alongside this teaching activity, Bartek Świątecki has been developing his personal painting practice, exhibiting his work regularly since 2011. He has received several awards and distinctions from the Polish government in recognition of his work and the important role he plays in Olsztyn's cultural society through curating projects and scholarships.
A product of the late 90s graffiti scene, Bartek Świątecki - known as Pener - travels the world and takes part in numerous graffiti and muralism festivals. His work is part of the Graffuturism movement, which brings together a number of artists who have taken their practice of graffiti writing far beyond the boundaries of lettering and urban space in a transdisciplinary development of abstraction. Bartek Świątecki's work was soon exhibited as part of a series of exhibitions organized in the United States and Europe around the theme of Graffuturism. He has had solo exhibitions in Poland, Austria, Slovakia, the UK, the USA and New Zealand. His work is based on a geometric abstraction composed between order and chaos, in a balance of color and form that is at once sensory, emotional and reflective.
