Miss Van French, b. 1973
A radical and sensitive artist, Miss Van trusts only her instinct. Although she has often been considered an icon of Pop Surrealism and Street Art, it must be said that Miss Van is a unique and unclassifiable artist.
Born in 1973, Miss Van lives and works in Barcelona. The Chenus Longhi Gallery represents her work in France and in 2018 dedicated a huge retrospective to her fifteen-year career. Having started painting with a brush on the walls of Toulouse in 1993, Miss Van is considered a historical artist, but also one of the most important figures of international contemporary urban art. Her female figures are the very expression of femininity, between strength and fragility. They are imbued with cultural, anthropological and artistic inspirations, which have enriched the artist's vocabulary over the years.
A radical and sensitive artist, Miss Van trusts only her instinct. The eroticism of her paintings, which has existed since the very beginning, cannot be overlooked. She has exhibited in Europe and the United States, and although she has often been considered an icon of Pop Surrealism and Street Art, it must be said that Miss Van is a unique and unclassifiable artist.
