9 February - 2 March 2024
Overview
Nicolas Chenus et Samantha Longhi de CHENUS LONGHI are delighted to present  to Chasing The Wind, the first solo exhibition in Paris by Polish artist Bartek Świątecki.

A 2006 graduate of the University of Fine Arts in Toruń, Bartek Świątecki has been teaching painting and drawing at the Olsztyn Art School since 2008, becoming a certified teacher ten years later and receiving a government award. Alongside this teaching activity, Bartek Świątecki is developing his personal painting practice, and his work has been regularly exhibited in galleries since 2011. He has received several awards and distinctions from the Polish government in recognition of his work and the important role he plays in Olsztyn's cultural society through curating projects and scholarships.

Bartek Świątecki's painting proceeds from a geometric abstraction composed between order and chaos, in a balance of colors and forms that is at once in the realm of sensation, emotion and reflection.

The Chasing the Wind exhibition is the result of research carried out by Bartek Świątecki as part of a project initiated by the Polish Ministry of Culture and the region of Masuria, the famous land of a thousand lakes, for which he set up canvas and easel in the middle of nature. He thus created a cycle of paintings on the motif, in the manner of the Impressionists. We are naturally reminded of Claude Monet's last paintings and his forced transition to abstraction, which opened the door to modernism in the first quarter of the 20th century. After all, how does one convert reality into abstraction? The canvas becomes a window onto nature, which enters the painting and becomes a work of art. Nature becomes an abstraction, a source of inspiration and an object of representation.

Chasing the Wind presents some fifteen paintings on canvas and wood, radiating exceptional color and light.
