Ernest Pignon-Ernest: Le Lieu et la formule

22 - 27 September 2012
Overview

In September 2012, Nicolas Chenus and Samantha Longhi inaugurated the Openspace Gallery (its original name) under the high patronage of the artist, dear to their hearts, Ernest Pignon-Ernest. About forty works are exhibited in this first location of about forty square meters located in a quiet district of the 11th district of Paris. Militant and humanist, Ernest Pignon-Ernest works on the history and memory of cities through the people who live there. This first exhibition, realized on the occasion of the release of his book « Le Lieu et la formule », looked like a retrospective. The two young gallery owners have the chance to show historical pieces from the 70's to today, selected from the artist's archives, such as the famous « David and Goliath », life size. A strong moment that will forever mark the history of the gallery.
