Rae Martini: Tortured Papers

8 - 20 June 2013
Overview

Second solo exhibition realized within the cycle of exhibitions dedicated to Graffuturism by the Chenus Longhi gallery from April 2013, "Tortured Papers" is the first solo show of the artist Rae Martini in France.

The Italian artist began graffiti in the 90s by painting all over Europe. Over the years, he has taken his practice towards abstraction by bringing to his works a particular texture evoking tar. Rae Martini is particularly famous for his handmade torch-burned canvases that evoke beautiful ruined landscapes. This work was the subject of a superb monograph published by Damiani in 2011. While collaborating with many brands such as WeSC or Reebok, he has exhibited throughout Europe and the United States. The exhibition "Tortured Papers" shows a part of his work, very graphic, through a selection of drawings on tracing paper.
